The Muslim community worldwide is facing enormous challenges, physical threats like the recent horrific events in Gaza, as well as feeling the pain of the worldwide economic meltdown.
In the face of these challenges, many people are throwing their arms up in the air and asking, "What can we do"?
It is during such difficult times as these that we Muslims need to come together as a community.
When our beloved Prophet (pbuh) first came into Madinah, he was facing the same challenges as we are facing today, but to a much greater degree. The first two things he did was to build a masjid and then a market place. He asked who owned the market place, and at that time it was another community, then he said we must build our own market place. This is what this new Northstar community strengthening initiative is all about.
We want to start promoting Muslim businesses that are socially conscious, especially those that support Northstar in return or give something back to the larger community. This will be a win win for all of us, and at the same time we will be following the Sunnah of our beloved Prophet (pbuh). There is no way we can lose, because at minimum inshallah we will get the reward of following the Sunnah, which is actually the greatest of rewards.
